ORGANISATION OF LIFE
All living things are highly organised and this occur in levels.So we are going to cover the levels of organisations of life.
LEVELS OF ORGANISATION OF LIFE: The levels of organisation of life is four in number. They are the cells, tissues,organs, and systems. All of them are important and they make up a human. The simplest of them all is the cell.
CELL:The cell is defined as the smallest unit of life.All plants and animals are made up of the cell. Some of these plants are unicellular while some are multicellular. Examples of unicellular organisms are Amoeba,Euglena,Paramecium and others.
Examples of cells in higher plants are Phloem cells,Xylem vessels etc. while cells in Higher animals are the nerve cells, red blood cells,White blood cells, nerve cells etc
TISSUE: What is a tissue? A tissue is a group of similar cells forming a layer and performing a particular function. Examples of tissues in higher plants includes the epidermal tissue, Sclerenchyma tissue and the mesophyll layers in leaves. Examples of tissues in higher animals includes Muscle,Bone and cartilages. We still have organisms that exists in the tissue level,They are the hydra, Algae and fungi.
ORGANS:An organ is a group of similar tissues forming a layer and performing a specific function. Examples of organs in plants are the stems, roots, shoot, leaves etc while organs in animals includes Ear,teeth, stomach, nose,eyes.
SYSTEMS: This are groups of similar organs which forms a layer and performing a specific function. Examples of systems in plants are the root and shoot system while the systems in animals are the reproductive system, Excretory system, Respiratory systems, and Circulatory system. For an organism to function well cells,Organs,tissues, and systems should be functioning well too. Before we round up lets look at the Major sources and forms of energy.
ENERGY: Energy is defined as the ability to do work.We all need Energy to live and we get it from the food we eat and the air we breath.
REQUIREMENTS OF ENERGY FOR BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES.
- SUPPLY OF HEAT.
- MUSCULAR CONTRACTION.
- FOR GROWTH.
- .METABOLIC PROCESS
MAJOR SOURCES OF ENERGY: The sun is the ultimate source of energy. Biological energy is therefore derived from the sunlight which is trapped from chlorophyll. The energy trapped is now used to manufacture their food through a process called Photosynthesis.
FORMS OF ENERGY
These various forms of energy can be converted from one form to another. For example the chemical energy in the food w eat can be converted to Kinetic energy
